Een grootschalige reconstructie van het Romeinse Forum werd gebouwd nabij Madrid voor de film The Fall of the Roman Empire uit 1964. Met 23 acres was het de grootste buitenfilmset die ooit is gebouwd, volledig zonder het gebruik van matte schilderijen.
